Our Beginning

The Beginning of a Lowe Orthodontics Legacy

Every practice has a beginning. Ours began with Dr. Wilburn James “W.J.” Lowe, a dedicated dentist, father, and the man who established a legacy of caring for smiles in the Daytona Beach community.

Dr. W.J. Lowe began his dental education at the University of North Carolina, earning his Bachelor of Science in Dentistry in 1954 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1955. Just a few years later, in 1958, he founded the practice that would one day become Lowe Orthodontics.

But Dr. W.J. Lowe’s greatest contribution to the practice cannot be measured simply in years or degrees.

It was the example he set.

His son, Dr. David W. Lowe, grew up around the practice, spending summers in his father’s office from a young age. What began as a boy watching and learning alongside his dad eventually became a calling of his own. Dr. David Lowe went on to pursue dentistry and orthodontics, carrying forward not only the Lowe name, but also his father’s commitment to his patients and community.

Today, more than six decades after Dr. W.J. Lowe first opened his doors, his influence can still be felt throughout the practice.

The technology has changed.

Orthodontics has changed.

Generations of families have walked through the doors.

But the heart behind the Lowe name remains.

Dr. W.J. Lowe didn’t simply begin a dental practice in 1958. He began a family legacy—one that continues with every smile we have the privilege of caring for today.
